Bukittinggi





There are many wonderful travel destinations on this universe, famous and unfamous place!There is a place called Bukittinggi.Maybe not all of you guys know it. So, this time i am going to tell you abit about it.Bukittinggi is one of small cities in west sumatera,Indonesia.It's located near of the volcanoes Mount Singgalang and Marapi.Also, it  has cool climate about 16C to 24,9C. It also known as historical city and tourist city.

Bukittinggi as a historical city. There were some of big events happened here during coloniasm-era until the independence of indonesia. In dutch colonial-era,Bukittinggi known as "Fort de kock". It used to be a resting place for dutch-officers.This area has always enhanced its role in the state administration, which later developed into a city. It also used as a stronghold to against the paderi (Paderi war). In 1825, the dutch established a fort on Jirek Hill. Nowadays, it's called "fort de kock or benteng fort de kock". The dutch also built a clock tower in the center of Bukittinggi, in 1926.It was designed and contructed by local architecture, Yazin and Sutan Gigi Ameh.The first laying cornerstone was done by the 6 years-old son of Rook Maker a city contreleur at that time. I will tell you more about this clock tower on my next post. In the Japanese occupation, Bukittinggi served as the control center for military goverment of sumatera region even to singapore and thailand. During that time the japanese also digged a tunnel.Now it's known as Japanese Tunnel or Lubang Jepang. It was planned to contruct in 1942-1944.

Bukittinggi is not just a historical city, its also known as tourist city.There are museum, zoo, panorama park and sianok canyon.There are about 3 to 4 museums , it depends on the way you see it.There is Tri Daya Ekadharma museum its located at Panorama Street no.22. From here,you can read a piece of Indonesia's history especially bukitinggi and also you can see a small aircraft right infront of the museum.It's not just it, you also can go to Panorama Park it's right infront of that museum. Next is Bung Hatta's birth house its located at Soekarno-Hatta street No.37. Bung Hatta is a proclamator of indonesia. He was born here, of course. In his birth house you could see the old funitures like tables, chairs, beds and other things. The last one is zoological and bundo kanduang's museum. Both of them are located in the zoo.So, if you want to come to these museums,firstly you should go to the zoo. There is also a bridge, its called limpapeh bridge or Jembatan Limpapeh. It connects two places, the zoo and the fortress. So, If you visit west-sumatera but you dont come to Bukittinggi, it means you havenot visited west-sumatera yet at least that what people says. All i wanna tell you is come here and see what bukittinggi looks like by your ownself !!
